Currently, I dedicate my time, energy and expertise to positioning exciting new healthcare IT solutions from Intermedix to the European markets. This American company invited me to join their international team to build a corporate brand and sustainable market in Europe for their healthcare analytics portfolio. The company offers best-in-class products, but these have had very limited exposure in Europe, until now.
I was educated as a geodetic engineer, focusing on geographic information systems (GIS). My first assignment was at Tele Atlas (now Tomtom), pioneering in navigable road networks for in-car navigation. After working there as the geodatabase manager, I resigned to incorporate Tensing, an innovative GIS company. This pioneering venture evolved into an established organization, providing its customers first-rate GIS consulting services and applications for the public safety, utility and mobile workflow verticals with offices in the Netherlands and the US. For several years, I worked in the United States as CEO of Tensing USA. My various C-level roles were mainly customer-facing and strategic oriented.
After Tensing came under new management, I worked for other companies, mainly offering business development and boardroom consulting services, often related to national security, public safety, and emergency management. During the past years, my focus broadened to include healthcare analytics as a new field of expertise. To me, this is an exciting field, offering unprecedented opportunity to exploit vast data sets to serve our well-being, health, and prosperity in many ways.
Technology-oriented companies have been central to everything I did in my working life. In understanding how technology can help make the world an even better place, knowledge and curiosity are crucial. My approach is “can do,” pragmatic, hands-on, always based on a thorough understanding of the field I work in, and the technologies applied.
I believe in long-term relationships with clients and partners, delivering optimal value as a member of the client’s team. My international experience led me to understand and appreciate the various business cultures. I find working with American organizations particularly rewarding. The Netherlands is my home, and I enjoy working in every time zone and hemisphere the globe has to offer.
In my spare time, I am a lifelong learner, avid reader, explorer, and motorcycle enthusiast, and I make sure to stay fit.
